Mama Africa in Dresden

Bad price-performance ratio and portions that are almost cheeky compared to the price. The taste of the dishes was ok. Despite the starter and the main course, we're still making something to eat. For a given reason we decided not to have dessert in the restaurant. Have now paid 127 euros for 4 people. My wife had a pollack fillet with sweet potato chips. The fillet, as an example, was about 13 x 8 cm in size. Add a tablespoon of herb butter dip. We were in the restaurant a week ago, at that time there were still a salad set and normal portions on the plates. It's also a shame that we were seated at a tiny 4-person table a week ago, despite the advance reservation, although there were still enough other tables available. Everything went wrong that could go wrong Pity ! We will dine elsewhere in the future.

The crocodile dish was very tasty. Decor is African style, very cool. Also suitable for large groups.

2 stars because they tried to create an African atmosphere. I cannot report any more good things. No typical background music, the food was served carelessly (I leave it out of the fact that it didn't taste good) and the waitress wasn't the friendliest.

We expected more from the food. Well, tastes are different. For the money it was set up a bit bleak, a lettuce leaf on each plate as a side dish, that's better! Every village pub tries harder. The service was also unprofessional, after the payment process, guests expect at least a "nice evening". For us it was a 'once and not again!'

I can't rate the food and service as we didn't stay in the restaurant and get caught again. The reason was the very reduced map. We had already looked at the menu on the website and went to Mama Africa. None of the dishes that inspired us to visit this restaurant were on the reduced menu (due to Corona). The location made a very pleasant impression and the staff also seemed friendly. The food itself, however, was not very African and very much adapted to our European palates. One looks in vain for typical ingredients of the country kitchen such as e.g. Plantains, cassava, various beans, fufu, etc. So if you are really looking for African food, this is (I think) not quite right. Although the food on offer is definitely very tasty;).

Nice ambience and great selection, but unfortunately the desired wines from the menu were not available, the waiter couldn't recommend any other. The grill plate for two was very extensive, but also not as tasty / to the point as hoped. Cheesecake as a dessert is again very tasty.

Very nicely furnished restaurant with African dishes. It's worth a visit. Fair prices and very friendly service. We were completely satisfied!

Good, exotic food in a great atmosphere. Unfortunately it can happen that not every drink is available. Waiter quick and friendly and online reservation works without any problems. This is the right place for those who would like to eat and drink exotic food.

Nothing special. No music!!!! Absolutely no mood came up. The ostrich steak was ok, the zebra steak was so tough. The salad is a joke. A bit of green stuff, absolutely loveless. And no zero drinks. Except for the furnishings, no African flair. It's a shame

An adventure restaurant that you have to like. Inventory, kitchen is African. Have been there several times and always satisfied. Finding a parking space is a bit annoying, but otherwise OK.

The waiters are always very personable and extremely obliging. I really enjoy that every time I visit. The restaurant is really extremely stylish. No cheap decoration, instead there was a lot of color coordinated very harmoniously. I found the bid extremely appealing. Most of the taste is a delight. The quantities are an engaging and filling league.

The service was very nice and the food was there quickly. Unfortunately, I was not entirely happy with my hake because there were too many bones in it and I found the portion for just under 16 euros not really satisfying. I had booked mushrooms as a side dish for 2.50 but unfortunately that didn't tear it out. The red wine seemed a little too warm to me.

One should not always believe what is written in the comments .. The service staff was very keen to take care of their guests, attentive and friendly. The exotic dishes were all very good and the two-person African mixed platter made us very full (and I'm a very good eater). In spite of this, we still treated ourselves to the very nicely arranged dessert variation, which was an absolute delight! The total price was of course heavy but it was definitely worth it and we will definitely be back. Thanks again to the Mama Africa team for the culinary trip!

The food was delicious and plentiful. The service was very nice and the food was there quickly, you should plan a few euros more, but it's worth it. Gladly again.

Great food, but unfortunately the waiter couldn't be moved to smile. Maybe it was the mask too. Other restaurants are giving their staff visor masks that are much more comfortable to wear.

A place that you like to visit again. The service staff is attentive and friendly. As the name suggests, the menu is tailored to the African continent and offers interesting variations. On my part, the restaurant is worth a visit.

Very nice design of the walls. Really a great idea. The service was also very friendly. The food was brought to the table quickly and tasted very delicious. We would love to come back.

Our table have been set aside for my sister's birthday, she really was thrilled and the venue looked wonderful. I came here with my sis and both of us thought the meals was exceptional and the personnel were great. Tasty food that caters to everyone's choices. The food really was high quality, couldn't believe just how impressive the costs were!. Waitress knew the menu inside and out, seriously impressed.

Nice restaurant with casual atmosphere. Pretty small seating area which is elevated from basement floor. The menu has a lot of different variety with an extensive list of wild game steaks. Tried the multi grill platter which had Kangaroo, Zebra, Ostrich, Crocodile, and chicken with lots of rice and fries. Some of the meats were pretty good (ostrich and kangaroo) , but some were overcooked and tougher than I could have expected. The house beer was pretty good as well as the standard Weisse beer. Lots of mixed drinks and even fruit-beire combos to choose from.

The food was great but the service was seriously lacking. Exchanging a side dish for another in the plate for two was not possible. The server was only as friendly has she had to be and seamed generally annoyed to even be there. The order was carried out incorrectly, but no apology was given. The bill was correct for how the dishes were served (all single plates) but would have been 10€ less if the order would have carried out correctly. Our request to correct the bill was ignored completely. Not a word. We ended up giving no tip and leavening a bit disappointed by the whole experience.

The Mama Africa please a great atmosphere, delicious food and the staff is friendly and accommodating. There are steaks of crocodile, zebra, ostrich and kangaroo. Anyone who is not sure what he wants to eat of it can take as a starter the tasting plate '' Taste '' Mama's Exotics at a cost. "Of course, also beef, chicken and fish are offered.

Great lunch offer. But don't expect african food during lunchtime

Food was good, but price was a bit high. Also there was very dirty: spiders on the ceiling and all decorations are covered with dust and dirt. It looks like there was no cleaning after this place was opened.

I just expected a bit more from the food as well as the environment. The restaurant was really cold. The waiters were really nice.

Service is very good. Portion is huge as well. However, the exotic food isn't very special. Had the mixed platter. But the food is still very nice! Recommend : Crocodile meat!

Service was great. My mistake I didn't realize it was predominately South African, I was looking for more Ethiopian style. They also serve Kangaroo, but Australia isn't Africa so not sure what's going on there. They had a guy playing drums which was fun and they serve Savannah cider if that interests you. It's located away from Main Street.

Very good food, fantastic atmosphere. Every wall and table is decorated with African paintings or souvenirs or fake animals. Playing typical South African music at some point. Kind of expansive though (35€/ person), buy one can eat zebra or crocodile
